This summer's date for the traditional pilgrimage to Köyliö to honour Saint Henry, the patron saint of our Cathedral, our Diocese and all of Finland, is Sunday, June 14. The bus to Köyliö leaves St Henry's Cathedral at 9 a.m. and stops at the bus 18 bus stop by St Mary's at 9.15-9.20. The bus fare is EUR 25 and is paid on the bus.
Both going to and coming from Köyliö the bus will stop for a coffee break in Humppila. Shopping is also possible. The Mass at the site of St Henry's martyrdom begins at 1 p.m. We will be ferried across to the island of Kirkkokari in boats or on rafts, the crossing fee is EUR 4. After Mass, the local village association sells excellent sandwiches and coffee for a reasonable price on the lake shore, so you will not need to pack a lunch. We will return to Helsinki around 6 or 7 p.m., depending on traffic. To sign up for the pilgrimage, please contact St Henry's Parish by calling 09-637853. Please state if you will be getting on the bus at St Henry's or St Mary's. Those interested in making pilgrimage on foot, please click here.
The annual pilgrimage to Köyliö is approaching! Those who make the pilgrimage on foot begin walking from the town of Yläne on June 12 and arrive at Köyiliö - the site of the martyrdom of Bishop Henry, Patron Saint of Finland - on Sunday the 14th in time for Mass on the island of Kirkkokari in Lake Köyliö. The cost of the pilgrimage will depend on the final number of participants, but it will be €40-50. Please note that the fee covers food, sauna and housing, but not travel to and from Yläne/Köyliö.
